SUMMARY:

LC 49 0145   LC 49 0212S   LC 49 0212S (SCS) AS PASSED BY SENATE

Would rename the Office of College and Career Transitions to the Office of College and Career Academies. Would also allow the Commissioner of TCSG to appoint a director of that office. This office would work in collaboration with TCSG, State Workforce Development Board and the Department of Economic Development to support efforts to recruit new industries and expand current industries by demonstrating that high school students will be ready to work within these industries upon graduation. 

The office will establish a certification process, in collaboration with the Department of Education, and be authorized to certify college and career academies. 

EFFECTIVE DATE:

January 1, 2021, if passed.
